Novelty 2026: Powerful pioneers of the diesel era – the CC 65000 class
With the CC 65000 class (originally type 060-DB), the French State Railways SNCF initiated the transition from steam to diesel operation in the 1950s. The 20 twin-engine, diesel-electric locomotives were developed for mixed express passenger and freight services and proved their worth on the non-electrified routes in western France – from Nantes via Tours to Bordeaux and La Rochelle. Built from 1956 and officially designated CC 65001 to 65020 from 1962 onwards, they stood for performance, reliability and modernity. Although withdrawn from service as early as the 1980s, two of these striking machines have survived: CC 65001 at the Cité du Train railway museum in Mulhouse and CC 65005, which is awaiting restoration.
The model depicts the locomotive in its original condition | Metal model body | Illuminated driver’s desk | In digital operation with switchable cab and engine room lighting | Detailed cab and engine room interior | Separately fitted sandboxes, sand pipes and brake shoes | Additional tank caps, brake lines, speedometer drive and horns | Fine handrails and steps | Factory-fitted PIKO PSD PluX22 sound decoder | Brake hoses and coupling hooks included
These items were created in cooperation with Gebr. Märklin + Cie. GmbH, Göppingen. A corresponding AC Metropolitan train set can be found in the Märklin H0 range!
